Vishal Bhardwaj’s film goes on the floors the same time as RGV’s next

She maybe good friends with Sanjay Dutt, but the Kagna Ranaut has apparently decided to make her career choices more professionally.

The actress, who was offered both Ram Gopal Varma’s Department (which has Sanju in the lead) and Vishal Bharadwaj’s Ishqiya sequel, opted for the latter when she learnt the films were to go on the floors the same time.

An industry source reveals, “Kangna has her diary full, and she was facing a clash of dates with the Ishqiya sequel and Department.

Though she tried her best, she couldn’t accommodate both the films and had to let go of one. Since she is a big fan of Vishal Bhardwaj and Abhishek Chaubey (the director), she chose Ishqiya. Read the rest of this entry »

Hosts a birthday bash at a Pattaya nightspot this time minus Salman and Shah Rukh

Sanjay Dutt’s party-hearty streak continues, notwithstanding the recent brouhaha over his recent bashes (read: Salman Khan v/s Shah Rukh Khan).

Last night, Dutt hosted a party to usher in his birthday (which is today) for at least 100 guests at a Pattaya nightspot.

The actor, accompanied by his wife Maanayata and tots Shahraan and Iqra, is in Thailand for the shoot of his production, Rascals. Says a source, “Sanjay had booked the club.

He had planned everything along with wife Maanayata, close friend Bunty Walia and manager Dharam Oberoi besides Rascals’ co-producers Sanjay Ahluwalia and Vinay Choksey.

The multi-starrer finds a sequel. Most of the cast retained but not the director

It’s official Kaante will finally have a sequel. It will be co-produced by Sanjay Dutt Productions and Pritish Nandy Communications. While most of the cast will be retained, director Sanjay Gupta has been shown the door.

Says Dutt, “When Pritish came to me and narrated a line on Kaante 2, I flipped. It will be bigger and better than the original and will be one of the biggest action films shot abroad.

Sanjay Gupta won’t direct the sequel. We have a famous director on board.”

Kangna Ranaut not wearing bikini her next flick: She refused to wear a bikini for a scene that has Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn ogling at her. Kangna Ranaut, known for her insatiable ability to sport the quirkiest and the most fashionable outfits in  Bollywood, recently shied away from wearing a bikini.

This turned out to be a volte-face because the actress had agreed to wear it initially and was in fact quite excited about it. But last week, while shooting for David Dhawan’s Rascals, Kangna suddenly threw a big fit on one of the beaches in Thailand, when Dhawan asked her to wear her bikini.

Asin & Salman Khan Act together in ‘Ready’: Salman Khan’s first 2011 release – Anees Bazmi directed comedy drama Ready, with co-star Asin – will hit theaters on June 3. The film was earlier slated for release on May 27, 2011, which was also the release date for Farhan Akhtar produced Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, starring Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol and Katrina Kaif. Ready is a remake of the similarly titled 2008 Telugu film directed by Sreenu Vaitla, starring Ram and Genelia. Lisa Haydon act with Sanjay Dutt’s Next: After Aisha, supermodel Lisa Haydon has now been signed for Sanjay Dutt’s home production being directed by David Dhawan. It took three connoisseurs of feminine beauty Dutt, Devgn and David to pull her out of hiding after her last release.

According to sources, Lisa’s role has been specially written and added to the script. It was Dhawan who spotted her in a picture and suggested to Sanju that she be included in Rascals. Dutt readily agreed. Lisa flew in to Bangkok this week.

The director admits she was a late entry. “I saw Lisa’s picture and found her very striking. She is paired opposite both Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn. Don’t ask who gets Lisa at the end. The super success of Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal series has the industry in a tizzy. No wannabe comic director will dare to take on the formidable Shetty-Devgn combination.

Comedy man Anees Bazmi, however, is an exception. With the Golmaal franchise out of the race in 2011, Bazmi has been asked to step on the pedal with two of his comedy franchises.

So his babies won’t be disturbed

The Dutt siblings — Sanjay Dutt, Namrata Gaurav and Priya Dutt Roncon — hosted a party for 60-odd people at Priya’s Bandra home on New Year’s Eve.

The guest list comprised close friends of the two sisters and Sanju Baba. It is a sort of an annual tradition. Initially, Mr and Mrs Dutt were to host the party but since they didn’t want to disturb their two-month old twins, the venue was shifted to Priya and Owen’s flat in the same building.
